Art Trip to Hua Hin

May 10, 2023

During the long weekend of 3rd to 7th May 2023, the art students from year 10 and year twelve embarked on an exciting painting trip to Huahin. The main objective of this excursion was to provide the students with a first-hand experience of observing the captivating seaside nature during the early morning, using watercolors as their medium of choice.

We began our artistic adventure on Friday at 6 AM, just as the sun was rising, to capture the enchanting beauty of the majestic sunrise against a backdrop of a clear blue sky. Despite the presence of local tourists in the area, they were all pleasant and unobtrusive, allowing our students to focus on their artwork for a dedicated hour and a half. Due to the high temperatures, we had to conclude our painting session around eight o'clock, but the students later resumed their work in the comfort of their air-conditioned rooms after breakfast.

Later that day, we visited the picturesque "Wat Tham Khao Tao" situated along the rocky beach. This serene location provided various levels adorned with holy deities and monuments, offering our students ample opportunities to sketch and photograph the surroundings. We also took a leisurely stroll along the nearby lake and explored the small markets, where we discovered holy objects and food ingredients.

In the evening, we ventured to the renowned Huahin night market as a group, enjoying an exciting shopping experience and indulging in delectable local delicacies for dinner. The following day, after a refreshing walk in the shallow waters of the sea, we visited a Chinese temple located at the Huahin pier. Seeking respite from the rising temperatures, the temple offered welcome shades and intriguing shadows, allowing our students to capture the folklore-inspired interior and the characteristic sea-themed decorations through sketches and photographs.

As dusk approached, we embarked on a bus journey to the Khaotao temple and monastery. There, we were graciously invited to partake in a chanting and meditation session led by local monks. It proved to be a truly remarkable and spiritual experience. Afterward, we enjoyed a breath-taking seaside walk, taking in the tranquil ambiance of the surroundings. To conclude our adventure, we shared a delightful dinner together at our lovely hotel, reflecting on the unforgettable moments we had experienced throughout the trip.

On the final day, filled with cherished memories of shared activities and new experiences, we embarked on our journey back to Bangkok. We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in organizing and making this trip possible. It truly exceeded our expectations and will forever remain etched in our hearts as an unforgettable experience.
