P. 3

This policy was last reviewed and agreed by the Board of Management of the school in January 2021
and will next be reviewed no later than January 2022 or earlier if significant changes to the systems and
arrangements take place, or if legislation, regulatory requirements or best practice guidelines so require.

        Introduction
Our Headmaster applies the regulations on admissions fairly and equally to all those who wish to attend
        this school.

        Aims and Objectives
            • We seek to be an inclusive school, welcoming children from all backgrounds and abilities.
            • No child is refused entry on the grounds of race, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation.
            • All applications will be treated on merit, and in a sensitive manner
            • The only restriction we place on entry is that of number. It is our wish for parents and carers to
find a place for their child at the school of their choice. However this is not always possible, due
to an excess demand on the places available.

        Pupil Profile
Rasami British International School is a co-educational independent international school for pupils from
18 months to 18 years of age. We aim to stretch, support and develop the academic potential of each
pupil, willingly accepting children of differing abilities. Whilst it is recognised that there must be a base-
line level of ability in order to access what is essentially a traditional yet dynamic curriculum, we
encourage applications from purposeful young people whose major strengths may not be defined in
purely academic terms. We believe that breadth of opportunity is essential to inspire and motivate the
young. A rich diversity of activities beyond the confines of curriculum unlocks enthusiasm, builds self-
confidence and uncovers hidden talents, developing strengths which then impact on all aspects of a
        student’s development.

How parents and guardians can apply for their child to be admitted to our school
            • On receiving contact from a person considering placing a child here, record the person’s and
child’s names, child’s gender and age, address, telephone numbers, other contact information
and proposed date of entry. Arrange a time to visit and/or send out a prospectus pack and other
               information they request.
            • On visiting the School, the visiting adults, should be taken around the school and be given
comprehensive information. Key personnel should speak to them.
            • The child may be invited to spend a day (or days) in school.
            • The parents choose to register their child.
            • Before the decision to admit a child is confirmed by the School the parents/guardians are
required to complete the “Acceptance Form”
            • When a child has enrolled, the parents/guardians names should be added to the list to receive
information on the school and invitation to events, along with parents already enrolled.
            • Those to undertake base-line assessments are to be informed so that these can be done
            • A place will be offered based on availability and in accordance with the Code of Practice for
Schools, Disability Discrimination Act 1995 Part 4.

        Entry procedure
The aim of our process is to identify potential. We are looking for well-rounded pupils with a genuine
interest in education in the broadest sense of the word, with interests that stretch beyond the confines
of the academic curriculum, in areas such as music, drama, art, debating, community activities and
sport. There are many extra-curricular activities, all of which are important in developing a well-balanced,
        confident individual.

Rasami British International School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. It is our aim that all students fulfil their potential.
