University & Careers Guidance

At RBIS International School, we are committed to providing personalised support to help our students navigate their future careers and higher education. Our Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance (CEIAG) programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge, confidence, and skills they need to make informed decisions about their future in an increasingly globalised workforce.

1. Tailored Guidance Throughout Sixth Form

Our guidance process begins as soon as students enter the Sixth Form, ensuring that they receive continuous support throughout their journey. We provide specialist advice through our dedicated University Counsellor, who works closely with students as they explore their options, research universities, and finalise their higher education or career plans. The goal is to ensure that each student leaves RBIS with a clear direction that aligns with their individual talents and aspirations.

2. Dedicated Time for University Guidance

To facilitate this process, we have allocated a weekly university guidance slot in the Year 12 and 13 timetable. During these sessions, students meet with the University Counsellor to discuss various aspects of the university application process. These meetings may cover topics such as choosing the right course, understanding UCAS tariffs, writing personal statements, and preparing for interviews. Additionally, one PSHE lesson each month is dedicated to teaching Sixth Form students about careers and higher education.

3. Comprehensive Student Profiles

Our University Counsellor creates detailed student profiles that are shared with subject teachers. These profiles include information about the students' intended university destinations and the specific admission requirements they need to meet. This ensures that teachers are aware of each student's goals and can provide tailored support to help them achieve the necessary qualifications.

4. Access to Resources and Information

The Sixth Form common room is stocked with a wide range of career and educational information, including brochures from Thai and international universities. Students also have access to up-to-date information on scholarships, admission deadlines, upcoming university fairs, open days, and entry requirements for tests like IELTS and SATs.

5. UCAS Registered Centre

RBIS is a registered UCAS centre, which means our students benefit from streamlined support when applying to British universities. The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) is a UK-based organisation that assists with university applications, providing free information and advice to make the process as smooth as possible. Being a UCAS registered centre allows our students to navigate the application process with greater ease.

6. University Visits and Work Experience

To give students a taste of university life, we facilitate visits from university representatives, both local and international, and organise at least one university campus visit each school year. These visits allow students to experience university life firsthand, participate in lessons, and explore their future educational environments.

Additionally, we offer an Annual Work Experience Week for our Year 13 students in Term 1. This experience helps students understand the workings of commerce and industry, see the relevance of their school subjects in the real world, and gain confidence and maturity. It also allows them to explore careers related to their university courses, prepare for personal statements or CVs, and potentially secure future employment.

7. Preparation for University Entry Assessments

Throughout their Sixth Form studies, RBIS students are thoroughly prepared for the university entry assessments they may need to take. We offer a timetabled IELTS preparation session each week for Year 12 and 13 students, focusing on helping them achieve the highest possible score before applying to universities. Additionally, we provide SAT preparation sessions during lunch breaks, with a focus on Evidence-Based Reading & Writing in Term 1 and Maths in Term 2.

8. Successful Pathways to Higher Education

RBIS students pursue a variety of pathways after Sixth Form, with many attending universities overseas in the UK and Europe, as well as enrolling in international programmes at top Thai universities. Our comprehensive guidance and support ensure that our students are well-prepared to embark on the next stage of their educational journey with confidence and success.
