Primary Education in UK curriculum is designed to ignite curiosity and creativity , encouraging students to explore various subjects and discover their interests.
Welcome to RBIS’s Primary School, celebrated for being a nurturing and joyous place of learning. Parents consistently commend our warm and engaging environment, where we are committed to making the primary years educational and truly enchanting. We see these years as a crucial ‘Foundation for Lifelong Learning’. Our goal is to create positive experiences that students eagerly look forward to school each day, ready for the wonder of learning to unfold.
At Key Stages 1 and 2, we focus on laying a solid foundation in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking through our approach to teaching and learning- students learn to think and ask questions. These are essential tools for life’s journey. Recognising this period of rapid cognitive growth, we also prioritise social development, teaching students the art of collaboration, empathy and understanding within a well-structured and supportive setting. Joy, fun, play, and smiles are found in our school.
We believe in holistic education, where academic growth is balanced with physical, emotional and mental well-being. Our approach builds confidence, encourages the discovery of personal interests and talents and prepares our students for the future challenges of secondary education. We are proud to say that most of our primary students become confident with a positive attitude to learning when they move on to secondary years. The transition is smooth, and they become successful academically and socially. Most importantly, they are happy and have high values for themselves and others.
Our class size is small and attentive. Our teaching methods are student-centred and interactive and prioritise understanding through hands-on learning and individualised instruction with differentiation to meet each child's needs. Applying knowledge and skills in the real world is crucial. Our teaching approach encourages students to actively engage in the learning process and apply their knowledge..
Here is the summary list of subjects that the students will learn.
Mathematics (with a combination of Singapore Math-based Curriculum focusing on Concrete, Pictorial and Abstract)
Mathematics is taught with an emphasis on understanding concepts, not just memorising facts.
Our approach is to help students develop a strong foundation in key mathematical principles.
English We divide our literacy lessons into two parts. Book Study and English Language.
Science The science curriculum is designed to ignite a sense of wonder and curiosity about the natural world. Aligned with the UK curriculum standards, our programme encourages young students to explore and understand the environment around them. They will have Hands-on experiences and be encouraged to make scientific inquiries.
Computer Science Digital Literacy is for the digital world that our students live in. They will learn to understand technology, coding, and programming, as well as online safety and the ethical use of information, problem-solving creativity, and practical application.
Humanities Subjects, History and Geography, play a crucial role in developing well-rounded individuals with the skills and knowledge to navigate and contribute meaningfully to a complex, diverse world. We follow the UK curriculum but improved it with the Universal Goals Curriculum, which addresses critical global issues. Only a handful of schools are taking this step to advance their curriculum.
The Universal Goals Curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum with an environment twist. With inspiration stemming from the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we have made our own child-friendly goals into accessible units of learning. The units such as Climate and Environment, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Reducing Waste, Equality of All, Water and Food, Alternative Energy, and many more.
Arts, Music, and Drama Nurturing creativity through the arts is essential in primary school. Students learn to express themselves through various art forms.
Performing arts is an essential element that enriches the educational experience of students. It provides a pathway to self-expression, cultural understanding, and personal growth. The students are given various performance opportunities to share and experience the joy of music and arts with others.
Physical Education (PE) Our PE curriculum is not just an activity but a crucial part of our students’ holistic development. Recognising the importance of physical health and well-being. Our curriculum includes a wide range of sports and activities, ensuring all students find something they enjoy and can excel in. We actively participate in inter-school sports and competitions. PE helps the students to value health, teamwork, and perseverance.
