Academic Overview - RBIS

The RBIS academic curriculum is based on a British model modified and enhanced to take into account local requirements and the needs of our international students.

The school is divided into 4 phases:

  • Early Years Foundation Stage: Age 18 months to 5 years following the latest UK EYFS framework. Download the framework here.
  • Key stages 1 & 2: Age 5 - 10 years following the reformed UK National Curriculum for England and Wales
  • Key Stage 3: Age 11 - 13 years a broad and balanced range of subjects aimed to provide a solid foundation for IGCSE, based on the KS3 UK National Curriculum.
  • Key stage 4: Age 14-16 years following Cambridge IGCSE courses
  • RBIS Sixth Form: Age 16-18 years following the Cambridge International Advanced level course

We believe this curriculum model enables students to build their skills and understanding seamlessly to achieve the qualifications and learning habits they will need to be successful in higher education.

International A levels are valuable qualifications which provide students with access to the best universities in the world.

About me

I graduated from Keele University, UK, with a degree in Biology and Mathematics and then continued on to study towards my PGCE. After graduating I worked at a school in the UK teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics. This gave me an opportunity to teach a wide range of scientific topics at different levels.

Why you I like to work at RBIS

Since working at RBIS, I have had the opportunity to develop my Physics and Mathematics teaching to students at iGCSE and A-Level. Students at RBIS are so polite and hardworking and they are a pleasure to teach.

More about Mr Brougham

" As some of you may know, I am a keen sportsman. As a student at school and university I competed for many teams in Fencing, Badminton, Atheltics and Squash. Fencing however, is my primary sport. I have been fortunate enough to compete for the Great Britain U17, U20, Student and Senior teams at international tournaments around the world. Fencing taught me a lot growing up, it taught me how to win graciously, lose with dignity and most of all, how to work hard towards a goal. Whilst at RBIS, I am excited to be able to help students achieve their goals both inside and outside of school."
