Math In Math we will continue to work on times tables/repeated addition. We will be learning about properties of shape and symmetry and also finding out about right angles.
English We are studying the text 'Can't You Sleep Little Bear' by Marten Wadell. We will use what we have learned about grammar, punctuation and vocabulary during our talk for writing sessions to help us write our own story. We will write independently during our Big Write session.
Science The term one Science topic is Materials. We will play flashcard games to group and identify materials. We will discuss what makes a type of material suitable for it's purpose using vocabulary such as strong, waterproof, flexible and reflective. We will record our ideas.
ICT In ICT all children can log in to Education City. If there are any issues about logging in from home let me know and I will try to help. Students will be creating an information page and learning how to format and edit text and images.
History Topic Our history topic is 'The fire of London'. Year 2 were able to tell Mr Shaw all about the Great Fire of London and he was impressed with their knowledge. Next we will start our Design Project to make a fire engine and then add this to our small world street model of London in the past.
I graduated from Keele University, UK, with a degree in Biology and Mathematics and then continued on to study towards my PGCE. After graduating I worked at a school in the UK teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics. This gave me an opportunity to teach a wide range of scientific topics at different levels.
Why you I like to work at RBIS
Since working at RBIS, I have had the opportunity to develop my Physics and Mathematics teaching to students at iGCSE and A-Level. Students at RBIS are so polite and hardworking and they are a pleasure to teach.
More about Mr Brougham
" As some of you may know, I am a keen sportsman. As a student at school and university I competed for many teams in Fencing, Badminton, Atheltics and Squash. Fencing however, is my primary sport. I have been fortunate enough to compete for the Great Britain U17, U20, Student and Senior teams at international tournaments around the world. Fencing taught me a lot growing up, it taught me how to win graciously, lose with dignity and most of all, how to work hard towards a goal. Whilst at RBIS, I am excited to be able to help students achieve their goals both inside and outside of school."
